PENN TRAFFORD CITIZENS FOR DRUG AWARENESS

The Pleasant Valley Rescue Ranch is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the loving and humane treatment of unwanted horses. The ranch partners with Hope Remanes whose mission is to connect people and horses to restore hope.
The 10th annual drug takeback event was held on Saturday April 27, 2024 at the Penn Zion Lutheran Church near Penn Trafford high School. It was beautiful and sunny the entire time. This was one of the best events so far, 112 residents dropped off drugs, and a total of 12 boxes were collected weighing 273 pounds.
The drug takeback is a collaboration between the Penn Township Police Department and the Penn Trafford Citizens for Drug Awareness (PTCDA), a 501(c)3 organization formed to provide information regarding the growing drug crisis in our region. It is a coalition of neighbors, professionals, and community groups working together to address the growing issues of drug commerce, addiction, and abuse in our community. Drug Take Back affords people the opportunity to drop off unused prescription drugs at temporary locations set up in different cities across the U.S. The drug takeback event is held in October and April in conjunction with national Drug Take Back Day.

Unused or expired prescription drugs can also be dropped off throughout the year, Monday through Friday, between 8AM and 4PM, in a collection box inside the Penn Township Police Station located at 2000 Commercial Court off Sandy Hill Road. The next drug take back day will be held in October.
A special thank you to Chief John Otto and the Penn Township Police department for their support, assistance, and use of the TAC truck. Also, a big thank you Pastor Roger Steiner and the Penn Zion Church Council for their hospitality and use of the parking lot.
